Pietra Gay for Easter Hoops
Gay, a point-guard, who helped Louisiana State University (LSU) to the 1996 NCAA women’s Final Four tournament, is a professional player who recently concluded stints in Puerto Rico and England.
San Fernando-born Gay returned home last month to join the national squad in training.
Gay, who was the National Basketball Federation “Sports-woman of Year” nominee in 2003, will jump-off the match between Malick Secondary and Tobago All Stars at 10 am after meeting the players.
Also, Patrick “KK” Joseph, a two-time Super Ten “MVP”, and National Award recipient, will jump off the boys’ match at noon.
This match-up will feature reigning national champions Mucurapo Senior Secondary and Tobago All Stars Team.
The tournament will be played at the Woodbrook Youth Facility from April 10 to13 and at the nearby Jean Pierre Complex from April 15 to 20. At the conclusion of the finals, a boys and girls “MVP” will be named from the top five players from each division.
