Nanan: TT image tarnished

Nanan was speaking in the House of Representatives during debate on an Opposition motion urging governmental action on the claims of Vernon Paul — that he knows who planted cocaine and mortarshells in the watertank of UNC Senator, Sadiq Baksh.

Nanan then read a letter on the Vernon Paul issue which he had sent to the Secretary-General of Caricom, diplomats and international organisations.

His letter to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China prompted laughter from the PNM benches. As Nanan read out his list of over 20 embassies, Opposition leader, Basdeo Panday, chimmed in “You see how hard he working?”

As he ended, Minister of Works and Transport, Colm Imbert, teased: “You finished?” Nanan retorted: “This is no laughing matter.”
