Carenage man cries police brutality
Clint Lutchman told Newsday he was standing in front his house at L’anse Mitan Road at 6.20 pm, when a jeep with two policemen and two soldiers pulled up.
One of the officers jumped out of the jeep and pulled the towel from Lutchman’s waist.
“Shamed and embarrassed, I took up the towel, covered my privates and was just retreating inside when the cop grabbed a Guinness bottle from a man drinking outside and threw it at me,” he said. He added, “The bottle smashed on the ground causing the splinters to injure my daughter Natalia, who was inside watching television. I also sustained injuries to my leg. My son who was standing behind me luckily got no injuries. The facts are the injuries could have been worse or even fatal be-cause of this one ‘badjohn’ cop.
“I have no problem with the police doing their work, but there are ways it must be done and that is not it, because if my children had been maimed or killed, I would not have been responsible for my actions and then there would have been some excuse for shooting me.”
Western Division police would not confirm or deny Lutchman’s story to Newsday.
