Grandma of murder victim wants justice
Dorothy Cottle, said yesterday that her son attended church service at the Christian Union Church at Trou Macaque Road, Laventille on Sunday. When he arrived home he retired to his apartment located at the lower part of the house.
Cottle who at the time was sitting in the gallery of her home saw two men with bandanas over their faces walking in front of her home.
Shortly after, she heard about six loud explosions and began to panic. Cottle said that she became worried because next door a birthday party for a two-year-old girl was in progress and her young relatives were attending.
“I then saw my grandson clutching his chest and running towards the house where the birthday party was taking place and then I saw the killers firing at my grandson.”
The woman said she began calling out to her relatives to assist Providence but by that time he had already collapsed in a pool of blood. The killers walked away.
At her Trou Macaque Road, Laventille home yesterday, Cottle explained that she is still in a state of disbelief that an innocent person could be gunned down in broad daylight.
“I will pray to my God day and night to ensure that those men who killed my grandson pay in whatever way for what they did,” vowed Cottle.
She said that the persons who killed her grandson may have thought that he kept his gun at home and wanted it or maybe it was a case of mistaken identity. She is calling on the police to act quickly and ensure that the killers are brought to justice but in the meantime, she will pray and ask to Almighty to deliver his own justice.
Providence is the 114th person murdered for the year.
