Lara back for Carib Beer final
The left-hander who holds the record for Most Test runs, Highest First Class score and Highest Individual Test score, has been included in the 14-man squad to face Barbados in the “Challenge” final which begins on Gloria Saturday.
The match will be played at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre from Saturday to April 19.
Trinidad and Tobago will be looking to add the “Challenge” to the Carib Beer Series title they won, their first after a drought of 21 years.
Lara played a big hand in Trinidad and Tobago’s victory over Barbados in the Carib Beer Series match in Bridgetown.
He is coming off a short rest after returning from the West Indies tour of New Zealand and missing the semi-final match at the same venue against Windward Islands.
The 15-year-old Adrian Barath has maintained his place in the squad, but is unlikely to be in the final eleven especially with Lara back.
All players selected are asked to be at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, tomorrow from 2.30 pm.
The 14-man squad: Daren Ganga (capt), Lendl Simmons, Sherwin Ganga, Adrian Barath, Jason Mohammed, Brian Lara, Dwayne Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Richard Kelly, Dave Mohammed, Mervyn Dillon, Amit Jaggernauth, Rayad Emrit and Samuel Badree.
