Caparo Sports remember Sean Luke
Councillor Paras Ramoutar, Public Relations Officer of the Caparo Village Council said the project is being jointly-sponsored with the Caparo Sports Committee led by Hamilton Bovrill.
“With this captive audience, we will invoke God’s blessings on the soul of Sean Luke, who was brutally and hedonistically murdered, and a minute of silence will be observed,” Ramoutar said yesterday. The Caparo community livewire said that more than 40 events, including several open invitation races, will form part of the day’s proceedings.
There will be races for mothers, fathers, senior citizens, children, relay among others.
Ramoutar said that the Easter Sports has been a landmark activity in the community for over 40 years and it is an opportunity for all the villagers to meet and reflect on the life in Caparo in the past.
“It is also a moment of relaxation as scores of families will come out and support the Council’s project,” Ramoutar added.
“The focus at the sports is to provide the forum for the young people in the community to demonstrate the capacity to do positive, healthy and worthy activities aimed at promoting civic citizenship,” Ramoutar said.
“Sports must be devoid of any act that will break communities and peoples.
The underlying focus at Caparo continues to promote and enhance youth empowerment, youth development and youth mobility at all times. This we have engineered over the years as we can boast of a massive participation and support from the corporate, business and other persons,” Ramoutar said.
