Man dies - woman critical
The first incident took place around 7.30 pm on Good Friday, police said, while a 50-year-old mechanic of St Margaret’s Village was driving his grey Mazda 323 car north along the Southern Main Road. Upon reaching Tropical Plaza in Pointe-a-Pierre, a police report stated that a man of African descent, attempted to cross the road near to the Plaza.
The car struck the man who died on the spot. The body was viewed by DMO Gopie who ordered its removal to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital.
Police are seeking the public assistance in identifying the man who was clad in black pants and t-shirt. Police believe he is in his 50s. Marabella police are continuing investigations.
The other incident took place around 8.55 am yesterday when Cassandra Boodoo, 19, a mother of one, of Hope Road, Princes Town, attempted to cross the road by the Cross Crossing traffic lights in the vicinity of Skinner Park, San Fernando.
Boodoo who works in a fast foods outlet was struck by a black Wingroad station wagon, driven by a 47-year-old man from Pleasantville. Police said Boodoo was knocked unconscious and is bleeding from her mouth.
An EHS ambulance rushed her to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was treated and warded in a critical condition. PCs Suphal and Ali of the South E-999 unit visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
