St Joseph’s Convent evening of entertainment
Hundreds of past pupils came out to support the venture which featured an art auction, raffle, several door prizes and tea.
Magistrate Halcian Yorke Young played the role of auctioneer and several pieces by artists Hinkson, Hollingsworth and King were auctioned off at very attractive prices ranging from $6,000 and under.
The past students and supporters who packed the ballroom to capacity were entertained by Signal Hill Choir whose performance of Earth Wind and Fire’s “Hearts of Fire” and Maximus Dan’s “Soca Warriors” was outstanding.
They also performed Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” for Mrs Lucy Yorke who celebrated her 75th birthday on Sunday. She is the mother of Dr Theresa Yorke-Metzger who attended the convent.
Hot soca boy band Surge was a surprise guest act and performed a fantastic routine to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as well as their 2006 hit “In Your Timing.”
We bring you the highlights of the evening.
