Downer in bid to head referees
Top position up for grabs is the post of president which is held by Krishna Kuarsingh.
Osmond Downer, the first FIFA accredited referee instructor in Trinidad and Tobago will be contesting for the top post.
The knowledgeable Downer is well-respected in the refereeing fraternity and will have strong support.
The former St Augustine Senior Secondary Comprehensive principal has been credited for the emergence of top referees Ramesh Ramdhan and Merere Gonzales among others.
Gonzales will contest two positions on Sunday— Third vice-president where his challenger will be Lester Alleyne; and stand again as assistant secretary of operations against Joel Moore.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) Maurice Cooper said also that the other position on the executive will be unopposed.
This means the return of Boni Bishop as the association’s general-secretary.
