Love concert to touch hearts

In an afternoon billed as one of “love, praise and prayer for the healing of our broken land”, the Love Movement Youth Outreach was joined in performance by Bernadette Scott and the Love Movement Senior Choir.

The audience was thoroughly regaled by the choirs as they sang a number of moving and spiritually uplifting gospel tunes against a backdrop of contemporary music and dance.

The concert’s theme was “More Love; More Power: A Concert to Touch and Heal Hearts” and was aimed at bringing a positive message to the public through the power of music and prayer.

In the opening address the bank’s branch sales manager at Princes Town, Annette Wattie, lauded the efforts of Scott, the Republic Bank Youth Outreach and the Love Movement Senior Choir.

She commended them for using their talents to bring about positivity in the nation saying that, “it is better to light a single candle than to sit and swear at the darkness.

“Love is the foundation upon which we can build a stronger, more stable society.”

Saturday’s concert was the fourth in a series of free concerts which Republic Bank has been co-hosting with the Love Movement.

The bank’s support comes via its “Power to Make a Difference” programme, which focuses on youth development through education, sport and culture.

The Bank recognises that today’s young people are perplexed by the multitude of mixed messages with which they are bombarded and the negative effects that these messages have on their self esteem, behaviour and capacity for success in life. The series of youth concerts are aimed at reaching out to them, and bringing positive messages of peace, love and hope.
