Beacon Insurance sponsors gymnastics

Beacon will inject $50,000 which would be used to off-set the costs of staging the events.

President of the Gymnastic Association Eric Adams revealed that the tournament has attracted the the best gymnasts from Trinidad and Tobago against the top competitors from Barbados and Venezuela.

Competition will take place at eight levels. According to Adams, levels one to four will showcase the talent of juveniles, while levels five to eight will highlight the advance gymnasts in the senior ranks.

Tots and Tumblers’ Thema Williams is expected to lead the charge for Trinidad and Tobago, having placed second in an international gymnastics tournament in Mexico last year on the even bars.

The overseas participants will come from two clubs from neighbouring Venezuela and one from Barbados.

Among the eight local gymnastics clubs in contention are St Andrewes Gymnastics Club, Tots and Tumblers GC, Teamwork GC, Mucurapo Girls GC, Olympia GC, Lambert School of Dance and Gymnastics, The Gymnastics Training Club and Gymakon Gymnastic Club.

Meanwhile four judges from the United States of America will officiate at the competition. Among them will be Rene Niccollai who is the head judge, along with Kathy Khun, Judy Grenfell and Dean Dryer.

The Beacon Insurance sponsorship will cover the cost of hotel and accommodation for the judges, rental of the Woodbrook facility and other expenses to make the competition successful.
