‘Soca Warriors’ essay winners

The winners received tickets to see the recent game between TT and Peru at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

“Pen Your Passion” is an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and TSTT which encourages participants between the ages of 14-19 to write an essay on how they would portray Trinidad and Tobago as an attractive tourism destination if they were selected to be part of a team going to Germany to support the Soca Warriors at FIFA World Cup 2006.

The response to this call for entries continues to be quite overwhelming, according to Camille Salandy, corporate communications manager of TSTT.

“The TSTT Foundation, is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to support the Ministry of Tourism in its efforts to encourage our students participation in this essay writing competition,” Salandy said at the presentation to the ten winners.

Jacqueline Gantaume Farrell, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Salandy, corporate communications manager of TSTT presented the winners’ proud parents with their tickets at the Ministry’s Frederick Street office.

The ten winners are: Ronell James, Mark Anthony Williams, Nolana E Lynch, Kimberley Seaton, Aruna Mahadeo, Paul Green, Taruna Seebaransingh, Samantha Basantm, Elizabeth Williams and Anita Jorsingh.

This promotion will run until May 31. The writer of the best essay will win a new mobile phone and up to $5,000 for continuing education. Essays can be sent to Tourism Essay Competition 2006, Ministry of Tourism, 51-55 Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain. or email: mintourism@tourism.gov.tt
