Unions brand today ‘Matrix Monday’
The NUGFW negotiating team walked out of several meetings with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) over the past month, stating that the union was not accepting figures under the current market rate as new salaries for daily-rated employees.
In a release on Thursday, Guisseppi said the union hoped the success of “Matrix Monday” would be translated to a situation in which something originates, thereby naming May 22 “Matrix Monday.”
In a letter sent to Finance Minister Conrad Enill, Guisseppi highlighted the issues causing the most concern among members of the union.
One of those issues is what he described as the “lack of concern and disregard of proper procedures” relating to industrial relations issues, with particular reference to collective bargaining for a new collective agreement.
Guisseppi said the CPO had made a career out of its ability to protract meaningless negotiations for new collective agreement.
