Charity begins at home
My problem with this statement is that in the year 2000 Desperadoes won the National Panorama Championship playing a Clive Bradley arrangement of Oba’s (Picture On My Wall). That very year, Archbishop Anthony Pantin died and Desperadoes as Panorama Champion was given the honour to play at the Archbishop’s funeral at the cathedral. To my horror and dismay, Desperadoes declined that honour by saying that they do not practice any hymns. What a crying shame on this orchestra and a slap in the face of President Patrick Arnold!
Subsequently, alternative arrangements were hurriedly made for the Exodus Steel Orchestra to perform at the funeral, which they gladly accepted.
It is my fervent belief that if Desperadoes could not represent a son of the soil in the calibre of Archbishop Anthony Pantin on their own soil: why should they be given the opportunity to represent any local contingent abroad?
