Snake oil salesman

According to media reports he was like a guest of honour being one of the select few to be seated on stage. If a man who has been held up as a pillar of Trinidad and Tobago society can patronise a snake oil salesman it’s no wonder there was a thirty thousand strong crowd at the show.

Perhaps I should not be too hard on the patrons at the event though, when one considers the obstacles to medical care the sick and destitute face in this country, like callous, venal medical personnel and scarcity of resources.

It is maybe desperation that drives many of them to faith healers.

It’s a sign of our progress as a nation when the only hope left to our helpless is that they put their life, and let’s not forget their life savings, in the hands of charlatans.
