5 new housing developments coming

This was disclosed on Thursday by chairman of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Noel Garcia while speaking at the statutory meeting of the San Fernando City Corporation.

Garcia said 250 housing units would be constructed at the old Ministry of Works building site on Rushworth Street and at Lady Hailes Avenue.

The Public Transport Services Corporation has its service station bay and garage situated at Lady Hailes Avenue, but according to Garcia, HDC has entered into negotiations with PTSC to purchase the property.

Garcia told the corporation meeting presided over by San Fernando mayor Ian Atherly, that 320 housing units will be built in the first phase of construction. Garcia also said that squatters from Corinth Settlement and the Old Train Line in Marabella, are to be relocated.

Their relocation, he revealed, is to make way for a four-lane highway from San Fernando to Princes Town — and King’s Wharf to Marabella.
