Focus On Central: Strictly vegetarian food
The restaurant and bakery make a host of traditional Indian, creole and Chinese dishes, along with freshly baked breads and pastries.
In the range of Indian delicacies there is pholourie, saheena, curried mango, dhal and rice, saime, pumpkin, channa, potato, caraile, sada, dhalpourie, paratha and more.
In the baked goods section, you can find currant rolls, pizza (with vegetarian cheese), pone, cakes, veggie fruit cake, coconut bake, garlic bread, pan bread – white or wheat, etc.
Chinese dishes include spring rolls, fried rice, wantons, soya, tofu, mushrooms with veggie oyster sauce.
Sometimes, the cooks give their patron a special treat and prepare the most requested dishes: Kaloungee – caraile stuffed with tomatoes, green mango, carrots all seasoned and then fried; kitchree and coconut chutney – an old time Indian dish; Provision Soup – made twice a month with lentils, split peas, provision, vegetables and dumpling; and Veggie Balls and Spaghetti.
The “meat” includes soya duck, shrimp, chicken, and lamb – all strictly soya products. And this is necessary since many pundits come to eat at Freshbake Foods Ltd and they also cater for poojas.
All the food and breads are prepared fresh every day using only fresh seasonings and a small amount of salt.
The doors are open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm so you can stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy a tasty vegetarian meal.
