Parliament does mid-year review
This is the normal mid-year review for the Appropriation Bill for fiscal year 2005-2006 and will give elected MPs a chance to discuss any issues pertaining to the Appropriation Bill and seek the relevant answers from the Ministry of Finance.
Sources yesterday said it was difficult at this stage to say whether or not Government would ask Parliament to approve any additional funding as its finance committee discussed allocations and expenditures pertaining to the $34 billion 2005/2006 Budget with the Ministry of Finance.
Following today’s meeting of the finance committee, the House of Representatives will debate a motion to adopt the report of the finance committee and the Supplementation and Variation Bill 2006.
Once passed by the Lower House on Friday, the bill will be sent to the Senate for debate on June 6.
This means that debate on the Tourism Development (Amendment) Bill 2006 which was scheduled to take place in the Senate will then be postponed to the next sitting of the Upper House.
