PSC to decide on Roach’s fate
The report was requested by the PSC following a report of an incident published in Newsday last Saturday.
On Monday, ACP Oswyn Allard was assigned the task of investigating the alleged scuffle between Danglade and Roach. Danglade has already given a statement to investigators and also produced a medical certificate of treatment he received for injuries.
Danglade claimed that last Friday, he was carrying out traffic duties in the vicinity of Elizabeth Street in St Clair when he advised a motorist not to proceed along a restricted area.
Danglade added that a man dressed in plainclothes instructed him to allow the driver to proceed along the restricted area and he (Danglade) attempted to arrest the person for obstructing him (Danglade) in the execution of his duties.
At this point, Danglade and the person who was later identified as Roach got involved in a scuffle. Danglade said he left and sought medical attention.
He has since proceeded on a two-week sick leave.
Newsday learnt the Ag Commissioner admitted he had an altercation with Danglade but named persons who witnessed the altercation.
Those witnesses have already been asked to give statements to the investigator.
According to protocol in the police service, Police Commissioner Trevor Paul would have been the best person to probe the incident.
