Destra, Maximus Germany-bound
ANGOSTURA LIMITED yesterday announced plans to take their own cultural contingent to Germany to participate in two major parties the company is hosting in Dortmund and Munich.
Among the 26 artistes of the 30-man contingent are Destra Garcia and Maximus Dan who will be the headline acts at the parties. Others include Atlantik, Dawg-E-Slaughter and X-calibre.
At the gig at the Limericks Pub in Dortmund on June 10, and at Hofbraukeller Beer Garden in Munich on June 17, Angostura is going to Germany to ‘Share the Spirit’ when they expose patrons to its Treasure Collection comprising the five-year-old Gold, seven-year-old dark and white rums. The collection was adapted, after one of Angostura’s prized possessions, the Barcant Butterflies Collection. Each bottle features one of the butterflies in the collection and as other rums are created in this collection, more butterflies will be highlighted for the world to see.
The Angostura contingent will form part of the Trini Posse team of 140 persons, and as regards the logistics and security of the team, Berentzen Gruppe, Angostura’s distributors in Germany will be taking care of those arrangements for its contingent.
Meanwhile plans are in the making to take to Germany, notable omissions from the national contingent, Playboyz Steel Orchestra and the Laventille Rhythm Section, by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF).
While all the necessary forms have been filled out for visas, there are problems obtaining flights to Frankfurt from England, given the eleventh hour of planning. But the 13 players from each outfit are keeping their fingers cross so that they can approach the German Embassy today to process their applications. Also, De Fosto (Winston Scarborough), who made an issue of cultural discrimination after the national cultural contingent was announced last Friday will be making the trip to Germany after meeting with Jack Warner, FIFA’s Vice President.
