PSC to write Roach over scuffle

The PSC is expected to write to Roach and Danglade shortly.

The file submitted to the PSC early yesterday, included statements from Roach and Danglade. It also contained extracts from the police diaries at two police stations and a medical report from Danglade.

The commission members met at about 9.30 am yesterday with the head of the PSC Christopher Thomas.

On Monday, Thomas requested from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security a full report on an incident involving the Ag Commissioner and Danglade.

The report was requested within 48 hours in time for yesterday’s meeting.

Newsday learnt that a civilian will be asked next week to mediate in the matter between the Ag Commissioner and Danglade.

Sources revealed that both parties have expressed regret that the incident occurred and have decided that in the best interest of the police service, the matter should be settled amicably.

Danglade alleged that he was carrying out traffic duties in the vicinity of Elizabeth Street, St Clair last Friday at about 8 am, when he instructed a driver not to drive into a restricted street.

He claimed that he was instructed by a man in plain clothes to allow the driver to proceed.
