Fire damages Scotia ATM

Security officers called the fire services after they saw smoke coming from the ATM at about 5.35 pm.

Branch manager Derek Patience said there appeared to be extensive damage to the ATM, although he was unable to give a full assessment of the damage.

There were no staff members inside the bank at the time.

“Hopefully no money is lost because of the way the ATM is built,” Patience said. “The top of it seems to be quite damaged but that is as far as we can see for now.”

Investigations into the fire are continuing.
