Argentina helps Akil with liver transplant
Argentina’s Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Jose Vignolo said the gesture was an example of compassion and a further sign of the warm relations between both nations.
Akil received his liver from one of his relatives living in TT and the operation was performed at the University of Austral in Argentina’s capital city of Buenos Aires.
At a recent function to mark Argentina’s National Day, Vignolo revealed that the embassy helped to fly Wilson and his parents over to Argentina for the operation.
Vignolo also spoke of how the embassy has been trying to further the Spanish language and literature among students at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine campus and of other projects with which Argentina was assisting in the region. He said his country helped to establish the White Helmets Project in TT which he said is a volunteer network programme.
