Guides celebrate 92nd anniversary
Vanessa Bushe and Raymond Edwards, singing a selection of ballads old and new, were great favourites; the arias in the Music Festival excepted, Vanessa sang a solo ballad for the first time onstage at the Cascadia.
There was, of course, the traditional cutting of the birthday cake before the fashion show with models parading on stage and up and down the central aisle of the ballroom, dogged by their photographer — at which point, I’m afraid, I had to give up and go home.
My apologies to the Guides for leaving before seeing the fashions by Jacqueline Koon How, the 22 other “houses” listed for the show, or noting who won the 17 door prizes.
We congratulate the Girls’ show while wishing them very many happy returns.
