New unit to replace St Ann’s

This was announced by Health Minister John Rahael at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall.

Rafael said the new ‘model’ psychiatric unit would be housed in a newly constructed building at PoSGH. He said the plan was to have a psychiatric ward at all the major hospitals. “And these wards would be where all mental health patients would first go,” he said.

He said Government would determine whether it needed to continue to use St Ann’s as a mental health unit after the various units are built at all the major hospitals.
