Fast food sales up for World Cup
Groceries were also busy yesterday as people wearing red rushed to get beers, snacks and food for their home limes.
Many others chose to order out and take advantage of the World Cup specials being offered by fast food outlets.
Mario’s Tunapuna and Montrose Chaguanas were busy selling the football family special which includes a family size pizza $75 (12 slices) with a two-litre soft drink and family size pack of tortilla chips. Patrons can also get a football for $50, or a flag for $10.
Two footballs are also sold separately for $90 and two flags for $20.
Pizza Hut, Roxy had many calls for their pizza specials with a football theme—the penalty kick, free kick, corner kick and goal kick.
The corner kick is a mushroom, bacon, ham and tomato pizza with a two-litre pizza and patrons can also choose a single order of six buffalo wings or a two scoop ice cream, five breadsticks (cinnamon or cheese) or two-litre drink. A Pepsi mug or back pack is part of the combo. The medium size pizza costs $75 and the large $95.
Royal Castle San Juan and Rio Claro branches reported that the main sellers were the combos of eight and 12 pieces of chicken with two regular side orders.
