Odds against TT
DESPITE the fantastic performance of the Soca Warriors in holding Sweden to a nil-nil draw on Saturday, TT remain rank outsiders in tomorrow’s match against highly-favoured England.
Locally both Goodwood Racing Service and Fair Chance Betting are offering odds of 14-to-one for Trinidad and Tobago to beat England. England are given odds of one-to-seven. The odds given locally for a draw are nine-to-two.
Better betting odds are available online. Totalbet gives Trinidad and Tobago odds of winning of 20-to-one. If Trinidad and Tobago win, then bookie Expekt will pay out at odds of 28-to-one, while Betfair will give 29-to-one.
However one of the United Kingdom’s chief high street betting-shops, Ladbrokes, has placed Trinidad and Tobago at just 11-to-one to win.
Overall Trinidad and Tobago still remain rank outsiders to win the cup. Despite drawing with Sweden, the Soca Warriors are lowly-ranked at variously 500-to-one, 1,000-to-one, and 2,000-to-one to win the tournament. On a good note however, the past five days have seen Trinidad and Tobago lift off the bottom rung of the 32 teams in the contest.
The Soca Warriors are now rated higher than several lowly-ranked countries who have lost their first match. These countries include Angola, Iran and Ivory Coast.
Local bookmakers are taking bets simply on which team will win, or whether both will draw, but foreign bookies are offering the public odds on almost any aspect of the game.
If you think Dwight Yorke will be the first person to score, then you can get odds of 16-to-one from Bet365 or 22-to-one from Ladbrokes.
Fancy Cornell Glenn? He is ranked at odds of 16-to-one by Bet365 and 27-to-one by Ladbrokes. Jason Scotland comes in at 22-to-one by Bet365 and 29-to-one by Ladbrokes. On the England side Michael Owen is top-favoured at odds of seven-to-two by Bet365, while captain David Beckham is rated at nine-to-one by Bet365.
International bookies are taking bets on who will be man of the match.
Following seven British players topped by Wayne Rooney, are TT goalies Kelvin Jack at 10-to-one (Sporting Odds) or 12-to-one (Paddy Power) and Shaka Hislop at 14-to-one (Blue Square). Next, according to Blue Square bookmakers, comes Dwight Yorke at 16-to-one and Stern John at 18-to-one.
