Aftermath of Nelson Street fire:
THE father of the baby who perished in the Nelson Street fire last month, testified at the preliminary inquiry yesterday.
Marvin Taitt, of Freedom Street, Cocorite, gave evidence before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court. Taitt was the father of baby Josiah Toby.
Also giving evidence was Versil Augustine, of Timothy Terrace, Diego Martin.
Audrey Andrews, a Guyanese national, is before Mc Nicolls to answer charges arising out of the May 6 fire on Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain in which a man and a baby perished.
It was alleged that on May 6 at 94 Nelson Street, Andrews murdered Junior Fortune and baby Josiah Toby. It was also alleged that she attempted to murder Tony Williams, Mervyn Anthony Joseph, Colin Henry, and Dexter James Williams. Andrews was also charged with arson.
Hearing was adjourned to June 28.
