Two more murders
A 25-year-old Arima man became this country’s latest murder victim when he was shot by bandits while liming at Sherwood Park, Arima yesterday, while a 34-year-old Morvant man who was shot by gunmen on Tuesday afternoon died from his injuries at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH) yesterday.
According to police reports at about 9.45 am yesterday, Wayne Jemmot of Arima was liming with friends at the corner of the Eastern Main Road and Jean Street when he was approached by a gunman who shot him in the stomach.
He was rushed to the Arima District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Jemmot was the 187th murder victim for the year.
And according to police reports, Anthony Wayne was liming at Pelican Extension with friends on Tuesday when a car pulled up and gunmen began firing at him. Wayne was later found lying on the ground, nursing gunshot wounds to the body. He was rushed to the PoSGH by a friend, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Melinda Charles, Wayne’s common-wife, told Newsday that she could not understand why anyone would want to kill him because he was a God-fearing person. Wayne was a parishioner at Miracle Ministries.
“Before he left that day to get a URP work, he kissed me, and I told him to be careful,” Charles said.
Charles said that where Wayne worked, he always spent time counselling others about God, since he was baptised two years ago.
“We had plans to marry and have children,” Charles said.
The autopsy report revealed that he died as a result of gunshot wounds to the upper chest which exited the back of the body. The Homicide Bureau of Investigations is continuing the enquiries.
