CPO, NUGFW agree

Giuseppi in a statement said, “We are happy the CPO finally came to her senses by agreeing to the union’s proposals.” Giuseppi stated that it took too long for the CPO to agree to a proposal that was relatively inexpensive and would not cost the government a thing. Giuseppi revealed that the union’s improvement proposal included requests for a $250,000 increase aimed at providing chiropratic care for workers.

Giuseppi said the CPO accepted their offer and agreed to the increase for major ailments with no additional costs to employers or employees. Giuseppi indicated the increase was designed to include coverage over surgeries such as heart surgery and also treatment for workers with leukaemia. Giuseppi said new negotiations were due to commence next Wednesday relating to coverage for spouses and children of retired workers and medical treatment for workers infected with HIV/AIDS.
