Bennett, Maharaj in Sagicor final

In their respective semi-finals yesterday, Bennett eliminated Krecelle Frederick 6-1, 6-0 while Maharaj only dropped one game as she romped to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Crevine Sellier.

Earlier on the day, Bennett crushed Fayola Fraser 8-0, Maharaj hammered Kerlace Providence by a similar margin, Sellier held off Emily Aboud 8-6 while Frederick edged Rebecca Ashe 9-8 (8-6).

The Boys’ 12-and-Under quarterfinals were also contested yesterday, with Jualon Greig crushing Brendon Hat 8-0, Christian Attong trouncing Jordan Horford 8-1, while James Mitchell and Timothy Trestrail whipped Adrian Boodoosingh and Max Murray-Ramcharan by 8-2 margins respectively.

In the second round, Greig got past Stephen Smith by a walkover while Hat eased past Jared Ottley 8-3, Attong blanked Adam Suite 8-2, Horford cruised past Ibrahim Mohammed 8-3, Mitchell mauled Raymond James 8-0, Trestrail pipped Joshua Romany 8-4, Boodoosingh crushed Joshua Xavier 8-0 and Murray-Ramcharan demolished Kunal Lalchangani by the same scoreline.

The tournament resumes at the weekend, with semi-final action and doubles’ play on Saturday while all the finals will be staged the following day.
