Jokers emerging in silly season
Now the Trade Minister Ken Valley wants the nation to believe that Winston Dookeran is a man of ideas, but no action! I find that to be a very difficult claim to take, even if it comes from someone as decidedly incapable and unaware as Valley.
I thought maybe it would be important for me to ask a few question directly to Mr Valley:
(i) Where were you in the late 1970s when the arrogance of the PNM caused your “father”, Eric Williams, to set aside recommendations to save thousands of workers at Caroni Limited that were made by “ideas” man Dookeran?
(ii) Where were you in the early 1980s when the PNM almost completely erased the future of every man, woman and child of our nation? Do you have any memory of the “ideas” man, Dookeran, who came in after to rebuild TT? Do you think he just stood in a Ministry office hyperventilating and hoping for the best, as you no doubt do?
(iii) Where were you when Trinidad and Tobago had to convince the world that it was still a democratic nation? Where were you, Mr Valley, when “ideas” man Dookeran displayed the kind of leadership that we have never seen before in bringing stability back to our country?
(iv) Where were you Mr Valley, when “ideas” man Dookeran sat as the alternate Governor for Trinidad and Tobago on the board of directors of the International Monetary Fund?
Politics is politics, yes! But politics is what we make it!
You might have benefited from the venom of what we know to be politics, but make no mistake that many of us out here consider Winston Dookeran highly.
Your party’s intentions have always been to destroy. Dookeran’s intentions have always been to rebuild.
History has shown his endurance and his contributions. What exactly, Mr Valley, will history say about you?
