Forde beaten in bid to head CABA

The organisation held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday at the Chaguaramas Hotel and Convention Centre.

Despite not being at the meeting because he had to return to Barbados on Wednesday morning due to a family emergency, he was still the favourite of the 21 countries that were present and voted.

Marshall was challenged for the presidency by Jamaican Leroy Brown and Trinidad and Tobago’s Cecil Forde.

Marshall, who first became president in 1998 got ten votes, while Brown got seven and Forde four.

There were five nominees for the positions of first and second vice president as representatives voted in blocks.

Barbadian Kathy Harper-Hall was re-elected as General Secretary unopposed. Alvin Sargeant of the Bahamas is a newcomer to the executive and will manage the post of treasurer with Roland Cave of TT as his assistant.

Cave, who was a committee member in the last executive will also be assistant secretary.

The other new member is Joseph “Reds” Perreira of St Lucia who will serve as one of two Committee Members. The other is Omar Gumbs of Guadeluoupe.
