Rip-off insurance
The insurance company (thank god one of the very few that pays claims) offered me a settlement of only $117,000 for a vehicle that has Full Comprehensive Insurance, by the way my insurance premium is over $11,000 annually.
I insisted to the repair shop and insurance company that my van is brand new and I would not accept any foreign-used parts on my van, had this been the case I would have purchased a foreign-used vehicle! I had no choice but to accept a dashboard from another vehicle wreck (which was much older). this dashboard clearly indicated the wear and tear of a commercial vehicle over three years old.
My bank interest and installments inclusive of insurance payments, were basically lost due to the repair time searching for parts, not withstanding the inconvenience of not having the use of the said vehicle.
I received the unfinished van on June 14, 2006 still missing plenty finishing parts; so I ask who should I turn to? Who protects consumers in this country? Why is the government doing so much to protect the industry of local new car dealers? How did the insurance company arrive at a settlement of $117,000? (My excess was $1,500). Why is the wait at the majority if not all dealers two weeks and more for overpriced parts and service appointments?
When would the government indefinitely eradicate these exorbitant duties on imported vehicles of which they personally don’t ever have to pay?
