Cops probe Friday deaths
Police believe Satnarine Maharaj, 35, was struck by a car on the Southern Main Road. They found him in a semi-conscious state lying on the road near Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre, around 5.45 am on Friday. Maharaj was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died at around 7 am. Maharaj, whose last known address was Waterloo, Carapichaima, had sustained injuries to his chest, head and hip. An autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow at the Forensic Sciences Centre. PC Lewis is investigating.
At around 5 am Hedley Joseph, 73, a painter, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital. Joseph suffered a fractured skull and broken ribs after he fell off a scaffold while painting a house at Zuchier Street, Sumadh Gardens, San Fernando, on June 20.
An autopsy revealed that Joseph’s injuries were consistent with a fall.
PC Elbourne is investigating.
