And the 17-year-old Couva Government Secondary School student will leave on August 10 to take up the four-year offer.
Francois was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago team which just failed to make it to the Women’s Under-20 World Championship at the final qualifying round in Mexico.
It was while playing at the qualifying series Francois attracted the attention of the SCSU coaches who kept following her career and later extended the scholarship offer.
She was tabbed by SCSU while still a Lower Sixth Form student at the Couva school, after gaining eight CXC O-Level passes.
Francois is currently in training with the senior nationals under coach Jamaal Shabazz.
The daughter of Dawn Francois and Kenrick Hoyte, Janine will major in Business Administration during her scholarship tenure at SCSU.
