Mothers’ Union urged to help young mothers

The challenge was thrown out by Madame Justice Monica Barnes, keynote speaker at the group’s 85th Anniversary Luncheon and Awards Ceremony at Centre Point Mall, Chaguanas on Saturday.

“The question I bring to you, can the Mothers’ Union rededicate itself to family values by formulating a family value curriculum?

“Today, mothers are everywhere, the word mother has a sacredness, a mother is central to family. If we can rededicate our time to motherhood, these future families can have new life.”

Barnes said she recently visited the Mothers’ Union children’s home and was pleased with what she saw there. “I visited the home recently and the children were obviously happy and I thought to myself if the parents of those children had the love and assistance of the Mothers’ Union, imagine the country we would be living in now,” she said.

During the function, President of the Mothers’ Union, Margaret Maxwell, presented tokens of appreciation to individuals who helped the group.
