Sri Ganapati to lecture in TT

Sri Swamiji will be celebrating with local devotees as well as some 200 other followers from Europe, Canada and the United States of America at the Guru Purnima (Worshipping of the Guru). This religious festival will take place on July 9 at Dattareya Yoga Centre of Orange Field, Carapichaima, from 8 am and continues throughout the day.

According to Ramesh Persad-Maharaj of the Dattatreya Temple, this is the first time that Swami Ganapati will be coming to TT for the important celebration of Guru Purnima.

“Swami has thousands of followers in this country and they will all have a chance to do worship with him on this day,” he said. He noted that Hindus throughout the country are expected to join in these celebrations.

As part of the celebrations there will be a three-night Geeta Gyan Yagna to be conducted by P V Nath MBE, a Hindu scholar and social worker who resides in the United Kingdom. Nath will be conducting lectures on topics from the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita on July 5 - 7 from 7 pm nightly.

In 1998 Dr Nath was given the MBE in England and he is also the recipient of the Mother India International Award.

The swami has been coming to TT since 1976 and has consecrated the Aripo River and named it Aripo Datta Ganga which has now become an important pilgrimage spot where people from all walks of life visit and take bath. Persad-Maharaj said that the river has healing qualities and many people find peace by visiting there.

“His Holiness, Swami Ganapati is widely known as the Swami who heals by music. He composes his own tunes by using special seed letters from the ancient Vedic scriptures and these sounds act upon the nervous system and healing takes place in the listener who has faith. People throughout the world have been healed by his music,” Persad-Maharaj said.

Sri Ganapati is regarded by his devotees as a prefect spiritual master who shows the way to God realisation and salvation.
