Angostura supports Simple Song

Manager Corporate Communications, Giselle Laronde-West said Angostura “applauds the efforts of Simple Song to overcome its adversity and supports its continuous hard work in the pan fraternity.”

Ten months have passed since that dreadful evening in Simple Song’s panyard, when gunmen opened fire on the innocent children and the life of their beloved friend, 14-year-old, Anisha Simon, disappeared before their eyes.

“Today, Simple Song’s young players continue to struggle with their physical recovery as many of them still carry the bullets in their bodies,” Laronde-West said in a media release.

“Besides enduring their physical pain, these children battle daily with their fears. Regardless of the dark memories that overshadow their lives, the children of Simple Song continue to find joy in playing their pans.”

Their resilience was evident when they participated in the Panorama 2006 competition in the Small Conventional Band category.

Co-manager of Simple Song Steel Orchestra, Peggy Fortune, is determined to restore stability in the children’s lives by rebuilding a safe and comfortable panyard, where the players can excel in their musical talents.
