$50,000 robbery

BANDITS escaped with over $4,000 in cash and $50,000 worth of digital cameras, computers and plasma television sets from The Wizz computer store in Couva.

Several computers, two 42-inch plasma television sets, several digital cameras and other electronic items were stolen from the store located in Atlantic Plaza at the Point Lisas roundabout.

According to a police report, around 10.30 am, store manager Richard Sookdeo and two other employees were in the store when three bandits —one brandishing a firearm — stormed the businessplace.

Sookdeo later told police the three bandits tied them up and herded them into a store-room at the back of the store.

The bandits then placed the electronic items into a van before speeding off.

The victims later freed themselves and contacted the Couva Police. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
