Caledonia Clippers back on winning path

Playing without their chief defender in centre Miguel Williams, and forward Kerwin “Chinee” Lares, Clippers trailed the first half 19-16.

Williams is out for ten days with a cut on his forehead which he sustained during the Drillers match last Friday which required 21 stitches.

However, with Simon Moreno accepting the responsibility as the team lead scorer, the Morvant team took a 40-37 half-time lead with Moreno scoring 15 of his 24 points in the first half.

The teams traded baskets for most of the second half and the scores were tie at 70-70 with 4:34 to go. Clippers then went on a 10-4 run to secure victory.

Akil Paynter was the top scorer with 18 points for Forum whose record now reads 2-5. In the first match, a Second Division encounter, it was Detour Shak Attack that won against Trailblazers 78-58.

The zone is in its 17th season with 17 clubs playing in three divisions — First and Second Divisions for men; and Women.

Matches are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
