Telebanking a big headache

TTEC disconnected me for non-payment of bills — due since January! These bills were paid through ‘‘telebanking.’’ Upon checking with the bank, I discovered that my account had been debited. Further checks with the electric company revealed that the money debited from my account had been placed in a suspense account as the commission claimed that it couldn’t ascertain its source!

All this happened in early June.

Mr first set of questions is as follows:

• Who is to be blamed for the incompetence?

• Who is going to reimburse me for the loss of food and vegetables?

• Who can repay me for the inconvenience, the embarrassment, the time-off from my job to address the issues?

• Who is going to replace my son’s three dead fishes, and most importantly;

• who is going to reimburse me for the re-connection fee I paid to TTEC?

The ‘‘nicest’’ part of this entire experience was clearly being at the butt of the policy the electric company has employed, of doing disconnections on the weekend — when the clients they serve can feel it most.

Take all that for Vision 2020! Take all that for telebanking! Take all that too for forward thinking and technological advancement.

Then came July . . .

Suddenly yesterday, TSTT disconnected me!

I am sure that I know why; I have continued to follow the numerous advertisements that have encouraged me to ‘‘go modern’’ and to do telebanking. TSTT has been paid!

I am sure that my money is now in a suspense account. I am sure that I will be embarrassed further when my friends call.

I am sure that I will experience further inconvenience. I am sure that I will need more time-off to sort this out. I am sure that no one will reimburse me for reconnection fees. I am sure that I am not the one who is incompetent here, and I am also sure that I know what telebanking is . . . and also what it gives!
