Valley: Mission to Europe in September

Valley also disclosed that similar missions to the Far East and South America are now being planned for November this year and March 2007 respectively.

At a post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall last month, Valley said Government would be dispatching trade and investment missions to different parts of the world in order to capitalise on the global attention which Trinidad and Tobago received due to the participation of the Soca Warriors in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

The tournament ended yesterday with Italy defeating France in the final in Berlin. Valley told Newsday yesterday that the mission to Europe has been rescheduled for September because of advice Government received which suggested that summer in Europe may not be the best time for such a mission.

He said the mission will comprise business and cultural elements and its members are now being selected. Among the European nations which that mission will visit are Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Valley added that because of its composition, the mission will discuss trade and investment opportunities in TT during the day and give potential investors a sampling of our culture at night.
