Father, son on rape charge

A CENTRAL Trinidad businessman and his son were yesterday each granted $65,000 bail by a magistrate on seven charges of rape and one for grievous sexual assault on a 15-year-old teenager.

The father and son, 48 and 23, were arrested on warrants on Saturday night. Their arrests followed reports made by a relative and the teenager to the Chaguanas CID.

Both accused appeared yesterday before Senior Magistrate Nanette Ford-John in the Chaguanas Magistrate’s Court.

The charge alleged that the father and son committed the sexual acts between 2003 and 2006.

When they appeared yesterday, the magistrate did not call upon them to enter a plea. The eight charges were laid indictably.

The case was postponed to July 19. PC Dolan Oliver laid the charges.
