Clean up your act, doublesman

Well, he just does not, except in a half-hearted and therefore unacceptable manner.

Some of the “doubles” rubbish is put into a bag by a few of his customers. Much of it finds its way on to the pavement and into the canal.

It’s left there, it blows around into surrounding yards, the street and clogs the canal. It causes vermin and is a horrible sight for residents and their visitors to live with and look at. He needs to keep a yard broom, at least two large, sturdy garbage bags, a pair of gloves, a bucket and some disinfectant. I’m not sure if the lady who now sells doubles next to him is also guilty of this act — it’s hard to tell since they operate so closely to one another.

In any event, thanks for the ad; it gave me the incentive to highlight the very unsanitary conditions with which citizens of genuine residential areas have to put up, with absolutely no intervention on the part of authorities such as the county council, the councillor for the area (does this person exist?) and even the police for not enforcing the litter laws. While on the subject, I must add one more perpetrator to those two — a Woodbrook grocery — if possible — they are even worse.

The authorities also need to look at the surroundings of this place and how unimaginably dirty it is. Do consciences come into play when one operates a “business?”

How can you sell in a neighbourhood and simply never clean up your rubbish, remove old boxes stored on the pavement nor ever occasionally scrub down the area with some good old fashioned soap and water?
