Narine tells farmers to use agri resources

He said it would “be untruthful for me to suggest that agriculture in this country is not faced with challenges, some of which have persisted, while others have surfaced more recently as a result of the dynamic nature of agriculture locally, regionally, and internationally.”

The minister was delivering the feature address at the “Farmers’ Forum,” organised by the Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago, at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre, Mc Bean, Couva, last week.

Narine said the goal of his ministry was to have sufficient food of high quality, produced locally and offered at reasonable prices to the citizens. He was concerned about rising food prices saying “it was a reality that manifests itself in both locally produced and imported foods.” Narine explained the increase in prices was attributed to the basic economics of supply and demand.
