Second accused charged with murder
Ijah Oba Braithwaite, of Eastern Quarry, Laventille, appeared before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with murder.
Braithwaite is charged with murdering Mc Carthy at Plaisance Terrace, East Dry River, Port-of-Spain, on May 16.
Marlon Taitt was the first man charged and the preliminary inquiry into the charge was 50 percent completed. When Braithwaite appeared on Friday, Mc Nicolls said the first inquiry would have to be aborted as it made no sense having two separate inquiries.
State prosecutor Brent Winter is prosecuting, while Wayne Sturge represents Taitt. Braithwaite has no lawyer. The case was adjourned to this week.
