Over $15,000 in PYM football
The opening ceremony is set for tomorrow from 4.30 pm, with Senate President Dr Linda Baboolal, Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Ewart Williams and Joseph Ross, chairman of the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation, expected to attend and declare the league open.
Twelve teams will be in the reckoning this season — North Eastern Police, Moosai’s Sports, San Juan San Juan, TSTT Sports, One Love, Sweaters, Agent Orange, Carenage United, ABEL Old Boys, Maracas Back Street, Athletico and Morvant United, with Moosai’s meeting TSTT in an Over-40 clash.
According to league president Bissoon Birsingh, the prime objective of the league is to provide an avenue for sports and promote health, as well as an enabler to reduce crime.
“The league is also appealing to corporate citizens to assist financially as the cost of operating the league is high,” Birsingh said.
The league will also feature competitions in the 13-15 and 16-18 age groups, with interested clubs required to contact league officials at 638-2525.
