Sando couple beaten, stoned
A police report stated that Richard Darsoo, 35, and his wife Susan, 34, of Church Street, were treated at hospital for injuries as a result of the severe beating.
The incident occurred at about 3 am when the couple was awakened by noises coming from their yard.
A police report stated that on checking, Darsoo was confronted by two men in the yard, one of whom threw a stone which struck him on the head. The police report stated that the men then picked up pieces of iron and attacked Darsoo and his wife who had come to see what was going on.
After beating them for several minutes the men then escaped on foot.
The couple contacted the Ste Madeleine police and Cpl Alexander responded to the report. Darsoo was treated for a head injury and warded.
In an unrelated incident, San Fernando police are investigating a report that three men robbed a UWI student of cash and personal items yesterday.
Aron Mohammed, 20, of Princes Town, was standing at Palmyra Junction near San Fernando, when he was approached by three men — one of whom locked his neck.
Mohammed told police that the men took $400 in cash and his cellphone before running off.
A report was made to the police and investigations are continuing.
