Meeting today on Pan H/Q

Arnold said he has a meeting with Culture Minister Joan Yuille-Williams today where he hopes to get word on the building. Arnold said two quotations amounting to $5 million was sent to the minister for completion of the project. The quotations were sent three weeks ago and Arnold said he is anxious to meet with Yuille-Williams to find out what is going on.

Almost two years ago, the minister announced that the Urban Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Udecott) would complete the facility. The two-storey structure was designed by Zanda Architect and was estimated to cost $3.9 million. However, when contractors Nambie Construction suggested a third floor be added to the structure, the suggestion came with an additional cost which resulted in work being halted.

Udecott took over responsibility for completion of Pan Trinbago’s headquarters after the Culture Minister intervened last year. However the building is still incomplete with work yet to restart on the structure. Last November, Arnold told Newsday all steel work on the structure was completed and he estimated that if work resumed, the building could have been completed by this Carnival. In addition to being the headquarters of Pan Trinbago, Government has earmarked the eight-acre property for construction of additional facilities including a gas station, hotel and amphitheatre.
